Owel

Owel Map v.1

Notable Places in Owel

  • Auroria- Aurorian Foxes live here. A lot of trading takes place in Auroria, and it's among the major cities in Owel. It is also known to be extremely cold.

  • Kadath- A huge magic hub, which is perfect since its a place of learning and studying. It is very hard to get into the university in this place, in case you are interested in that sort of thing.

    • Frosty Bay- The body of water between Kadath and Auroria. There appears to be a small island in the middle of the bay but there is no record of its existance or name on other maps.

    • Auroria Desert- Frozen sand dunes. Enough said.

    • Auroria Taiga- Thorny, wet, freezing wasteland. Caravans usually take care when they travel through with their wares for trade.

    • Auroria Forest- This forest shouldn't be so cold, but it is.

    • Auroria Plains- Kadath is angry that Auroria only sold them the peninsula. This means Auroria can have little toll outposts in the plains that Kadath has to pay if they don't take a longer path around to Kadath from the south, but, according to the notes on the back of a more recent Kadath-centric map, there are some weird monsters that Kadath let loose that mostly target Aurorian foxes. Make you wonder about the politics between the two cities.

  • Mossy Depression- There are a lot of swamps here and along with it, a lot of poison. There are some temples in the area if you want to take a risk and venture on through.

  • Holiday Marsh- The water is damaging and caustic here. Nothing like a Holiday.

  • Holiday- Moahu live here. Nothing but good is written about the Moahu so come on by for a visit. There are a lot of celebrations.

  • Dendain- There is supposedly an oasis in the middle of this desert but nearly half the maps about the place have recorded it in different locations. Also, be mindful of any giant footprints during the day. No one has ever seen the monster that makes them.

  • Sangsong Oasis- Huge spiders live in the water here according to a single map. There are tunnels under the water that lead to...something. Are you brave enough to get past the spiders and discover what lies ahead?

  • Honeycomb Plateau- A massive labyrinth filled with hug bugs and ants. The ants may not talk much but they are peaceful and engage in trade. Try not to go too far into the maze if you don't have a map with you.

  • Olive Hills- Lush, green, and full of lava. How? Don't ask. Why go there? Don't ask that either. There are frequent earthquakes that are known to swallow groups of travelers at a time.

  • National Port of Owel- A major city on Owel and usually the first point of arrival for those who travel or immigrate to the continent. Many vanguards are found here.

  • Deep Plateau- There's a story here that the plateau was created by a huge, huge dragon crashing and skidding into the land. That's absolutely ridiculous. It is more like a reverse plateau that has been contaminated by Holiday Marsh water.

  • Deep Mountain- Deep Mountain is like a reverse mountain. It's a huge crater-like place, and you can actually enter it. Except most smart individuals won't. Huge, HUGE bugs are found here, ones that can't leave because... because why?

  • Treefall- The amphibians here don't eat meat from land animals, only fish and plants are in their diet. They also don't speak most languages, including Common. It's hard for them to speak anything other than their own tongue but it shouldn't take too long for you to learn their language!

    • Treefall Greens- This forest didn't used to exist. The Treefall citizens genetically tamper with all the trees and all the wildlife here.

    • Treefall Lake- Genetically modified fish and also hydroponic gardens.

  • Heart Mountain- A meteor shower did something here and covered the mountain with meteor dust. There are stone golem things here now because of it. Huh... There's also an explosive ore here, so no one really likes exploring. A lot of animals here have rockish or stone-like features. Weird.

  • Carrot Crook- Block bunnies are from here. A "mad scientist" did something here, so there's apparently a deadly... mutagen here?

  • Gnawth- There are a lot of creepy rumors about the citizens of this place. Stoning gaze, steal souls, abduct children? Yeesh. Also someone has a real sense of humor in their notes about this place: "Natural hazards: Politically-motivated treachery".

    • Candy Mesa- A maze of mesas. Gems are here, most are magical.

    • Candy Lake- Candy Rock gets its water here.

    • Candy Rock- Oh.. Oh no... there's a group of "crystals heal your soul" religions here... .

  • Prospector- They build "rail roads" here...whatever that means.

  • Miaoustok- There's a city in a cave here. They live around a huge underground lake known as Lake Miaoustok. A lot of mice and frog residents.

    • Stony Barrens- A flatland. A lot of rocky beasts and golems here. They have stone showers here, like falling gravel.

    • Peril- A crystalline forest. Half of the maps made say "DO NOT enter. You'll become infected." It's best not to risk it.

    • Good Intentions- "Acolights" live in a village here. Reportedly also covered in crystal.

    • Neon Lake- Electric or lit animals here. Lots of glowing. Sparkling gnats, etc.

    • Gloam- Rugaru live here, and it's called "Insomnia City" as a nickname. It's also known as the "Neon City".

  • Teslic Yard- Strange monster machines naturally occur here? That hardly makes sense... Electric technology on this continent mostly originated here.

  • Moggy- Mostly flowercats and N.E.W. Gnolls live here. Its said the town is haunted because of the mines nearby but who'd believe that!?

    • Moggy Mines- Metals are mined here.
  • Dewclaw- Huge flowercat and cat population here. There's a bazaar here. Also a black market...

    • Dewclaw Flats- Tourist garbage here.

    • Catfish Lake- Abandoned underworld entrance here...?

  • Mew York City - Another major city in Owel but there's no magic at all. Older maps have listed this area as Kadath but it's not known how that is possible and why an entire city would move. The city is filled with crime syndicates.

    • Mew York Reservoir- The water supply for Mew York, filled by the Miaoustok River. Only employees allowed here.

    • Beheaded City- Hanged Men live here.

  • Althar- Spiritual city. Despite the scorching climate, there is an actual water source in the area so a city is able to thrive. Reports indicate a possible entrance to "hell" but no clear location can be found.

    • Seif Straits- Sand dunes, hot, blah blah blah no one cares.

    • Paradise Fields- Althar grows things here I guess.

    • Sere Valley- Extremely hot. Like, 0% humidity.

  • Three Gnoll Lake's- Yes, the apostrophe is supposed to be there.

    • Crunchbone/Bonecrunch/Bonecrush/Aromia, formerly Crushbone- Gnolls... There are two varieties of gnolls here, thorny gnolls and petal gnolls. Two many gnolls.

    • Gnolls's Knolls- Untamed wild forest and game.

  • Ventose Flats- Very windy. Sometimes hurricanes hit this far inland.

  • Luxury Cove- Twin Luxuries' beach area, with black and white sand. There's a bridge that connects the top of West Luxury to the edge of East Luxury.

    • West Luxury / East Luxury- Very nice to live here.
  • Citrico Archipelago- Consists of the islands of Stemm, Cherran, Musapeel, Citrico, and Polaris. Each island have different animals and a different color. Very warm.

    • Citrico Capital- Capital city of the region. There is a dropoff point that opens up during demon week for those who wish to go to hell. Fun for the whole family.

    • Zest, Rind, Pith - Despite not being islands, these cities are within the Citrico Archipelago region. Neither tropical or exciting, but great place to live and still claim you're from Citrico (because technically you'd be right).

  • Nature's Folly- This term encompasses the area from the Marshtune Glades all throughout Heaven's Keys. Usually it seems to be referring to the area past the quarantine, though.

    • Marshtune Glades- More swamp. Swamp frogs here.

    • Croon Hamlets- The frogs actually live here. If you have no poison tolerance, or no tolerance for bad music, you don't want to visit here.

    • Croon Fens- More swamp, less forest.

    • Kadath Outpost- Rumored to be keeping out a disease? A REALLY bad one? It can't be that bad. It is not recommended to go further than the quarantine line.

    • Paranoia- A city? Who knows. There's basically nothing about this whole peninsula.

    • Neck-Deep Mire- There's nothing. There's nothing about this place except to not cross through it directly. Take the shore if possible.

    • Void Forest- There's something about the trees here. Unconfirmed reports of trees moving and talking but that can't be true, right? Healthy visitors are not welcomed.

    • Beholder Gorge- Beholders?! AHAHAHA! NOPE.

    • Ever Hopeful- There was a city here. It's gone now.

    • Heaven's Keys- This place is the reason no ships sail past Owel's southernmost tip. I want to say, "it can't be THAT bad, can it?" but, it is. Many islands for many horrors. Sometimes on ships, people tell each other scary stories about Heaven's Keys just to spook the passengers if they're anywhere near it.
