Ladybird

Ladybird

This tree is HUGE! I dunno How Big, some number of units or something, but Big enough that it's an entire city! It sticks way up over the Clearing Forest, and you can see it from the opposite side of the Lake of Memories, even.

Canopy - The top of the tree is where a ton of lightweight and Not-Afraid-Of-Heights citizens live. They make their homes on swaying branches with tightly tied together leaves. A lot of cool art made out of magic leaves comes from here.

The Library - In the main trunk of the tree, there's a vast repository of knowledge, with loads of books about anything you can think of. There's also a private section, but when I tried to ask about it, an angel told me they were only open on Sundays and that I needed a card. I've gotta get out of here before Friday, so I guess I'll have to come back some other time.

Rosette - This is where most of the food for the city comes from, raised in pools of water in big leaves. Folks that live here make their homes by gluing stuff together with Seal-ant paste. Apparently it wasn't always a part of Ladybird, but once the city started forming government and stuff, Rosette joined in?

Little Gossamer - A huge bundle of webbing where a bunch of Spidermonkies live. It's surprisingly sturdy despite how it looks, and the locals seem easily excitable and fun to chat with. Don't ask if there's a Big Gossamer though, everybody gets real quiet if you do.

Burl - There's not much information on this lump in the tree. Locals say some spooky lady keeps a bunch of dead things in glass cases in there, but I can't actually find anybody that claims to have seen it.

Heartwood - Down at the base of the tree, there's a giant hollowed out area called Heartwood. If you wanna go somewhere in the province, you'll probably have to pass through here, since it's where all the transit up and down the tree and out to the other little towns and stuff starts and stops.

Places of Interest near Ladybird

Taproot

They filter the water from the Lake of Memories here and then send it up to the rest of the tree through some sort of pipes or something, and it's totally safe to drink afterwards. I wonder what they do with all the magic they pull out of the water?

Sucker

There used to be a huge tree here, but then they chopped it down and now a ton of little trees grow out of the stump. The city has some crews take down the little trees in some carefully organized way and that's where all the wood that they build stuff out of in this province comes from. Apparently it's really efficient and helps stop folks from chopping down the rest of the forest.

Mulch

A cute little mushroom city is down at the base of the tree. The folks that live down here clean up a lot of the waste from the city and use it to grow new stuff, like uh, mushrooms? I guess? The Morel Highground is here too.

Morel Highground

A designated battlefield for War?s, since not everybody likes playing with super easy ringouts high up in the tree. Originally established as a Traditional War?zone, focusing on the true spirit of War?, in opposition to Talsam's WAR! scene.

Wort

This town is full of old-timey witches and doctors that make medicine out of herbs and junk that they find. They say that you can't get better treatment for mystery ailments anywhere else, but the side effects can be weird sometimes. Apparently there's some big rivalry with Sprout.

Sprout

This town is full of new-age medical labs that pull DNA and stuff out of plants to turn it into really fancy medicine. I think. I dunno, I'm not a doctor. They also do a ton of cool stuff with magic plants to help out folks that lost their arms and legs. Everybody says it's the best place on the continent if you need (or want, I guess) to get some new parts. Apparently there's some big rivalry with Wort.

There's ALSO a MAIL BEETLE nursery here, full of baby mail beetles learning how to deliver mail, with like, flowers? I also don't know how that works. They're cute though.

Slog

This place is a mess. Not like, in a bad way, it's a swamp where everybody lives on like floating rafts and stuff. I didn't get to look around much on my way through, but apparently everybody coming to Ladybird off the Lady Lethe passes through. You'd think there'd be more tourist traps here, but I guess the folks here aren't about that kinda life. I'd like to look around more and talk to the locals on my way out.

Lake of Memories

A huge, beautiful lake that's full of funky magic that messes with your memory if you drink it unfiltered. A lot of weirdos live near the lake.

Don't swim in it.

Lady Lethe River

The river is big, and beautiful, and also forgets which way she's supposed to flow sometimes. Makes it really convenient or really inconvenient for you, depending on which way you wanna go and when you wanna go that way.

Elysian Field

This field is FULL of beautiful flowers! But apparently it's super dangerous and my boss told me I shouldn't waste my time on it. Ladybirders say it's cursed, or haunted? Or the flowers eat you. Or they eat your memories? Apparently growing from the water of the Lake of Memories makes it real spooky.
