Wands
Wands is a Family made up of all the smaller Families that don't fit into the other 3. They have a focus on a large variety of crafts and trades. From building and smithing to communications and medicine, if you need a job done, there's probably a Family in Wands that can do it for you. The following is an incomplete list of Families within Wands and what they specialize in. This list will be updated as time goes on.
Adze
Farming family. Responsible for the majority of the food grown in the city.
Bristle
Artists and printers who pioneered the use of the printing press in the area. Very involved in culture and celebrations, reputation marred by a few controversies of individuals manipulating the media.
Hammerhart
Pragmatic and unsentimental metalworkers and machinists. Has a formal structure of apprenticeships, in which younger students frequently form recreational rivalries.
Mattock
Longstanding mining Family. Operates the Route Mine. Currently working to clean up the heap, generations of spoil set aside. Tight knit with Stockade due to a high profile marriage between the two Families.
Miramur
Medical and hospice workers, unique for their autohypnotic techniques to shield themselves from disgust and grief. Appreciated, but somewhat feared as a bad omen.
Nails
Focused on construction. They mainly do residential buildings, but will sometimes do larger commercial projects if given ample reason.
Palisades
Workers on the outer walls of Wishbone and guards at entry gates. Important for keeping the harsh desert winds at bay.
Pawpads
Transit and moving. Everything from heavy cargo to produce to furniture. There's an open secret about them being involved in criminal activity, but they seem to do more good than harm so no charges tend to stick.
Skein
Tailors and clothiers, who gained their expertise from the many hoodwinks present in the old founding group. A dynamic family, with a web of changing partnerships and allegiances that have led to a few small feuds.
Smith
Artificers. They tend to stick to themselves, not too much to say about them.
Stockade
Shipping dynasty that moves all sorts of cargo to and from locations all across Eastar. Has flying machines, the mechanics of which are held extremely close to the chest. Tight knit with Mattock due to a high profile marriage between the two Families.
Towers
Surfnet and long-distance communication experts. Develop, build, and maintain the relay beacons that connect Wishbone to the rest of Eastar.
Zarzen
Specialized in making devices for creating or solving codes. Also make regular locks, but will almost always try and suggest making it more complicated.
